Each situation is somewhat different but it seems that most folks who go full-timing sell their homes. In our case, we had already downsized from the big house (where the kids grew up) to a condo. When we retired and started full-timing, we knew that when we stopped full-timing we did not want to return to the same area but would probably relocate to be nearer our daughter & her family. So we sold the condo, put some furniture in storage and stored a few boxes in our daughter's garage.
Ultimately, when we stopped full-timing after 11 years, we ended up with the best of all worlds (for us) with a house at the Escapees Rainbow Plantation in southern AL where we spend the winters and an apartment at our daughter's house in MI where we spend the summers - - and our motorhome to travel in whenever we want to.
