1. RVs go DOWN in value over time, homes generally go UP in value over time. RVs are expensive and poorly built even for mid-quality units.
2. Maintenance exists on RVs -- you aren't getting away from that. The things you hate about home maintenance will transfer right over to hating trailer maintenance.
3. You are ignoring another option -- finding a house you actually like in a location you actually like (rent or own, they are out there).
4. Kids need room to be kids. I don't think permanent RV life is kid friendly. I have 2 small kids myself. As kids grow, they need more room, not less. After a two week RV trip this summer I discovered that "I" need alone time and space from my kids to be happy (and I love my kids). RVs are small!
I would focus on why you are unhappy and not so much on the RV being the end-all solution. In my opinion, you'll find the same unhappiness, just in a different way.
I blame the RV blogs and TV shows with the cute young couples that make the RV lifestyle appear to be nirvana.
I'm not bagging on RVs, I just don't buy into the idea of RVs and little kids -- maybe that's just me. You could find a house you like and then get a small RV for recreational use to enjoy and wander in but your kids still have a life in a house.
These are my opinions, I'm sure others will disagree. I'm not looking to debate.
