+1 on checking if the pump runs regularly1
After owning our 5ver for about 45 days I noted the pump running from time to time. We had rarely needed to operate from our tank, but I'd thought it seemed to run regularly while we were travelling, so had not hooked to City Water to see if I could figure out the problem. Luckily I happened to get into the basement and noticed water on the floor in there. I had to remove the basement walls to get to the pump and discovered that the integral filter (which cheaply just snaps in place on our model) was loose and popped off on one side. It was allowing water to flow out onto the basement floor. Fortunately I was able to snap it back in place, test for function and leaks, and it has worked fine from then on.
