Thank you all for the information, we sure appreciate your it!
Francesca, you are right about Ontario Canada. Restricted breeds and suspected restricted breeds can be seized without a warrant and put down. Only registered dogs attending sanctioned shows can be brought in for up to 2 weeks. As crazy as that sounds I'm sure I read it right when I looked at the legislation. I have no idea about the laws in the USA but with so many towns and cities listed with restricted breed bans, I have to admit we are feeling pretty spooked.
Our original plan was to head south to a resort and spend the winter there, then in the spring we were going to head for Ontario where we both have family. Now we are working on a plan B that does not include Ontario, but we intend to cross the line and head for California in another week.
We are in a campground with a dog size restriction at the moment. The owner took a liking to our dog and let us in. ( he probably liked the cash better ). Half the people here like our dog and pet her, some just ignore her but a few scowl and tell us to keep away as we walk around the park. This is a new experience for us, we got spoiled living in a small city where our neighbours all knew our dog and we were free to let her be off leash along the river and in our local dog park.
Thanks again
I think it was someone else that mentioned the Ontario restriction- I didn't know about it until this thread. I really thought most such rules were/are limited mostly to private campgrounds.
But legislated restrictions/bans are evidently more widespread than I thought...here's a site that lists many, and there are probably more.
