Large dog issues or problems?

This may sound like an odd question, but does anyone out there have large or restricted breed dogs that they live and travel with? Have you had troubles at parks or campgrounds, or with local ordinances?

My wife and I both retired in early spring, then proceeded to sell our house and most of our possessions in the summer. We bought our new 5'er and started living in it full time in August. Thing is, we have a spayed 6 year old 50lbs Staffordshire Bull cross. They are considered pit bulls. Where we live in Kamloops BC our dog isn't restricted, so we never gave it much thought until just recently. We are in Surrey BC now researching warm places to spend the winter, only to discover that our dog is not welcome in what looks like an awful lot of Resorts, Parks and communities.

If anyone has experience with this problem or knows of anyone else dealing with it, we sure could use some guidance. Giving up our pet to live our dream seems like too high a price, but so is putting her in danger of being euthanized for being in the wrong place.

Thanks in advance

I could be wrong and Canadians please correct me, but I think in Ontario Pit Bulls are banned and can be confiscated by the Provincial Government. This is a concept mostly foreign to us in the States.
  • When I'm in a pet friendly CG, my dogs are tied up and if they bark they are immediately told to no bark. I have been in CG's where the owners just let their dogs run wild and bark all day long. I have had to take the long way around to the laundry rooms at times. I don't really care for these kind of people. I like dogs don't get me wrong, I just don't like people who let their dogs run their lives. if the CG says no to your type of dog then you have to move on.
  • Yes there are many campgrounds in the US that have large & breed restrictions

    Over 50lbs
    Pit Bulls
    Dobies
    Rottweilers
    Chow
    German Shepard
    Mastiff

The Insurance carrier places the restrictions due to liability issues.

BUT there are many campgrounds that are pet friendly

We travel with a 70 lb. mixed Border Collie and have run into weight restrictions.....no big deal other places to stay at.

Here are a few sites to check out.....
    Bring Fido

    Pet Friendly Travel

You can always check with the campground and IF NO........that's what's great about having wheels.....move on.
There are other places that will gladly accept you and your money
