Fulltiming over 10 years with washer and dryer. We would not be without them. We have them in the motorcoach just as we did in the sticks homes we owned previously. I can not understand why someone would spend time in laundromats, when the laundry can be completed at home while you are doing something else. No smells, no noise and they are in the space designed for them so they do not take up space. Like many other things in the RV world, if you have one they are great, if you don't then there are many reasons why you don't want one.

Parks we stayed at have had them any where from $0.75 to $2.50 to wash, dryers are all over the place. I figure $3-$5/load and when I do have to use a laundromat (no FHU sites) it usually takes 3 loads to wash, 2 to dry, with shirts/lingere being hung up to dry. Which adds up pretty quickly. If you are paying electric, I calculated (at 12¢/KWH) it costs just over 25¢ per load in motorhome which would equal about 50¢ for regular sized loads. Short term payback for purchasing w/d.

Other than my sheets and comforter and duve', I like the John Steinbeck fulltiming method. Especially since my rig doesn't have the dedicated space for a W/D - Splendide or stacked units. It would be nice to have a WD on-board, IMO. :)

Like many 5ers our size, the space is there, the hookups are there but we don't have a W/D & are quite happy to be without.

The W/D cupboard is right there in the galley area so it makes for a very convenient & huge area to be used as a pantry with the shelving installed & small hammocks for bulky but light stuff like snack bags. Visitors open the door to the pantry & go WOW!!!

Laundry day is like a military invasion. Either at CG or in town a couple weeks worth gets done one time using 3 or 4 washers. Not much time wasted sitting around waiting. By the time the last washer is loaded the first one is well on its way. The whole operation is done with clothes put away in just a few hours.

Just be aware that they are very small. You have to do small loads and IMHO forget it if you wear jeans. Takes for ever to dry and you can only put one maybe two in. So it's a lot of small loads often.

So it's a no for me.

When I need to do laundry I look for a CG that has one and load up that big washer with ALL my clothes at ONE time.

Go back to the MH for a cold one and then head back to stuff it all in one dryer and head back and have another cold one!
