Leaving rig someplace to fly home periodically?

Has anyone done this? I wonder if it would be asking too much to maybe post it on here asking fellow RVers who have a field or something you could leave it at for a week or two.
Reason I ask is we are contemplating going full time but would like to fly back to the east coast every three months or so to see the grand babies. I know we done it once for fellow RVers when we had plenty of land in the past and they were so pleased that we let them leave it there at no cost. Do you think it would be too bold to ask on here for the same in our future travels?
  • I did that on a near 2-year cross country tour. There are plenty of places to store your rig.
In southern Ontario we left it for the summer in a farmer's big barn -- he advertised as an RV storage place, and it was just fine.
In North Carolina I was concerned about the storms, etc, so I sprang big cash to rent an indoor storage garage for 5 months.

Most U-store places will rent you a short time spot if they are not full. Or, go out to a local airport on a weekend, and see if there's a guy with a half full hangar who would like a few extra dollars.
  • I used to leave ours in arizona at a friends business spend nov part of dec in AZ then fly home go back in late feb was not a problem.
