Wife and I are committed to selling pretty much everything and full timing. Medical insurance premiums are a huge concern for us (we can handle anything else). I am curious what non-Medicaid full timers are paying? We are both 50 and take low doses of blood pressure meds ( we are working hard to get off of them). We are thinking of $2500 deductible plans to keep premiums down and just cover the deductible if needed. I know Obama care will change things but it's anyone's guess by how much. Any advice or experience would be appreciated.
I'm taking COBRA @ $1054/month w/dental & vision for my wife & I. Our POS plan has $1000 family deductible, 10% co-insurance, w/max out-of-pocket of $4K.
Though pricey, we decided to keep this plan until the Affordable Care Act (ACA) starts in Jan 2014 because we should be eligible for a health care plan subsidy.
Originally, we signed up for a
www.ehealthinsurance.com plan, but quickly found that the plan cost was "uprated".
You would be wise to start shopping at
www.ehealthinsurance.com and see what you can get.
However, in another week (Oct 1) you'll also be able to compare plans on
www.healthcare.gov. This is the ACA site that my domicile (WI), Texas, and people in 32 other states will use because their states opted not to set up their own state health plan exchange.
Today's
Dallas Weekly has an info section on the new act.
