I'm playing the waiting game myself. I'm retiring in December and I won't be medicare eligible for another five years. I can get some high deductible insurance through my employer, but I won't know the cost until November. I also have the option of Cobra for 18 months, but once again, I won't know the cost until November. Finally, I guess I can see what the ACA costs will be, but that won't be until at least next month too.
So I'm holding my breath and hoping that I'll be able to afford health care and didn't make a stupid mistake by retiring too early.
BTW, due to very serious cardiac issues being able to purchase insurance on my own before 2014 was virtually impossible.
