Mold issue

I know I have mold in my 5th wheel. My question is can what I have in my rv be saved and if I do save it, who do I treat/clean it. Can clothing and fabric be washed and what should I use to wash it. On solid materials is their a chance that there is mold on them and how do I clean them. This is a serious problem. I got sick the last time I spent any time in my rv. I have purchased another rv and am concerned about moving anything out of my old rv into my newer one.
Thanks

  • by far, the easiest fix is to bomb the place with an ozone generator while you go do something else.
  • Do you have mold, mildew, or both? They are both fungi and can be problematic for health but to different extents. Native Floridians are very familiar with mildew. It is generally easy to get rid of (bleach or other similar products)but can be an ongoing battle to control. It usually doesn't cause serious health issues unless you live with a lot of it for a long time. Mold, is a more serious issue. Anything with mildew on it can be washed or cleaned and will be fine. Mold can permeate fabrics, etc. and make them worthless. I completely cleaned up a rental house last summer that had lots of mildew issues. Lots of soap, water, Clorox, fresh air, and sunlight solved the problem. Fortunately I did not have any mold. I now have a dehumidifier going 24/7. Find out for sure what you have before you throw things away. lizzie
  • I use Concrobium Mold Control for any/all mold control. Have cleaned old trailers, house evestroughs, etc. with it. Seems effective to me.
  • Killing mold is doable --- getting access to it is another matter. I wouldn't be concerned about moving stuff between rigs so long as you wash the stuff being moved (lots of info available how to kill surface mold) but killing mold inside RV walls might require extensive tear down of walls etc which might be cost prohibitive. Hiring a mold removal expert sounds good but I don't think your going to find a specialist who knows much/anything about RV's.
  • You can hire a mold eradication company to eliminate the mold on surfaces and items in your RV. It's not too expensive when you consider what has to be done and you will have certification that the mold has been eliminated.

Since the RV already causes problems for you, I wouldn't suggest you do it yourself.
