I got a jury notice late when my mail arrived. Emailed them I was traveling for the winter in state and just got my mail.Got another 6 was later and same thing...Another one forFeb 11 which I got on the 13.Emailed I was not going to be in the area for awhile could I be excused.Nope, I have to show up for 1 and tell the judge why I can't serve..How do you handle this type of notice? I am 8 hrs away from jury location.

I got a jury duty notice (Virginia) while I was in California. I sent the court a letter from California saying that I was out of state and wouldn't be back in state in time to serve. No problem, I was excused.I can't believe they'd expect you to travel to tell the judge you are too far away to serve. Sorta negates your excuse, doesn't it? What state needs you for a jury so desperately? (What, everybody ELSE flee that state, too?)

With the email maybe you should have sent proof that you were out of state. A real letter with postmark would be better than email. Maybe the judge does not read email.

I'd ignore it and let them come arrest you. No, they don't do that.
