Open Tanks with no worries

We've been full time RVing for about six years now, and the most annoying thing in our Class A and in our TT is dealing with dumping tanks. I looked around online and called shops looking for a fix to leave tanks open and not have to touch a lever if we're parked for a while. With no quick answers, we set out to make a device that would allow us to forget about the tanks. We made one for each RV, as all are different. Five months in our TT now, and I haven't touched a lever, smelled a bad scent, or seen the sensors go over two lights. It's getting over 100d in Texas, and I haven't thought of our three tanks since March (other than hitting the sensor buttons and smiling).
We're thinking of offering this to other people and need a word of advice. Would other RVers who stay put a while like this thing as much as we do if it costs around the $200 range. This is not a sales message, we just want to know if there is a demand before we make fools of ourselves. Thanks for any input!

  • I can accomplish the same with a Flush King + 1 lever pull. Dont stay several months in one spot.
  • I think the difference is that my system is a full 'forget about it' system and has to be custom made for each rig. It's fairly simple but uses a little physics to flush the grey and galley tanks, with no thought of turning a valve on or off under a sink or using a remote valve.
Again, I'm not trying to sell anything, just wondering if there is interest.
  • Scott, I can tell you I'd pay MUCH more for not having to make that a part of my routine even if monthly. Different strokes, I suppose.
  • Thank you for finding my post interesting.

The lights go on because the flush is timed; I'm not huge on wasting water.

It does sound like calamus' fix is similar to mine. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to about this with no equal fixes.

Thanks for such quick input so far. I look forward to hearing what people have to add with their experience.
  • For $200 I will spend the few minutes each week to dump them.
  • Interesting first post for not being a sales message.

If the tanks are open, why do the sensor lights go on at all?

It sounds like calamus has the problem solved.
  • I have a tank washer hooked up with the valve under the bathroom sink and we have left ours open for 3 years now I just turn the tank washer on for about 5-10 minutes every day we are there and it keeps it clean as could be and washes everything down to our septic tank so nothing sits and dries out in the lines.
