Oregon Locations

Can anyone offer advice for staying 2 months next spring in Oregon? We will be in a Montana with a dually and would like thoughts on the Astoria area and somewhere near Portland maybe. We are also reading reviews, but want any ideas for things to do and ways to enjoy the area. Thanks
  • Look at the Oregon State park web site and reserve you spot. Oregon state campsite are the best in the country but very busy. There are many CGs along the whole Oregon Coast, just take your pick.
  • If you want to take in Portland, I can recommend Portland Fairview RV Park eight miles east of Portland. The bus picks you up right in front and a short ride later you are at the train in Gresham. Takes an hour total to get downtown and you can ride TriMet buses and trains all day for $5, $2 if over 65. Otherwise, it is a short drive down NE Sandy Blvd into downtown. Rose City Food Park is along the way for some great street food. Lots to do in Portland, Saturday Market, Art Museum, great restaurants, rose and Japanese gardens, zoo, China Town, Pearl District, etc.

Suggest going to the town of Seaside, 20 miles south of Astoria. Go to Circle Creek RV Park. 1-503-738-6070. Nice and well maintained RV park with full hook ups. Call and make your reservations early as it tends to fill up during the summer. Email me privately if you want more details or things to do. I have stayed there for a month at a time. It is about 1 1/2 hrs. to Portland.
  • Drive down the Oregon coast (Hwy 101) - absolutely beautiful. There are several good State campgrounds along the way.
