Planning ahead

We will be wintering in the lower states this year and are trying to plan for any issue that may arise. Would anyone have a plan for this situation, If we are in (lets say Texas)and the rig driver "me' were to pass away what should my wife do as a non rig driver to 1. get back to our home state 2. what to do with our rig, hire a driver to return it to our home state or sell it there in Texas. I would like to have a plan ready to make this as easy for her as possible.
  • What sorta rig are you dealing with? For us, should I assume room temperature, DW shuts off water, locks down the trailer and drives the truck home. After the funeral and likely with the help of her brothers, sisters, daughters or our son in law, she returns to the rig to trade, sell or continue on. Just too many variables to plan for everything. She has driven the combo a few times and knows how in the event of an emergency.
  • Since I'm the rig driver, and my wife has no desire to ever drive it, we've asked the same question. We purchased RV Travel Assist from Good Sam. It would solve this issue 100%, and is MUCH less expensive than SkyMed.

    Good Sam Travel Assist
  • We have an insurance plan with SkyMed.

Basically, if I am incapacitated and unable to drive for any reason they will get us and the rig home from wherever we are.

Worth the $39 a month just for the piece-of-mind, one less thing to worry about during the winter. You can usually find someone selling their polices at most RV rallies.
