I feel a lot more comfortable about the security of my ‘stuff’ in my TT while traveling through 42 states than I ever did living in a newish subdivision in the Dallas area. Even without my triple locked home garage and dual security system.
Yes, generators are a hassle when camping back off the beaten path. I also want to get a Class A to make dry camping easier. But frankly, I feel MORE comfortable with all my stuff in a remote USFS campground 20 miles down a moderately graded gravel road than I do in a commercial campground near a major city.
Simply because there might be a dozen people a day come near my rig in the remote CG, and several hundred past my rig in the commercial CG.
While a remote boondocking site might seem less secure, the reality is that people who steal stuff to sell are not going to waste their time prowling the backwoods for possible items, when they can hit dozens of RVs in a commercial campground.
And RVs are low profit targets for thieves. We don’t carry a lot of easy to resale stuff that is easy to steal. You ever tried to get a microwave or a flatscreen HD TV out of an RV?
Most of that stuff is bolted down.
