We're all a little concerned about things being stolen, that's normal.
Your concern seems to be controlling your life.
This is not meant as an insult but, have you considered counseling?
It may help..
Really?? SMH. Geeezzzz.
Ok, thanks everyone “else” for your replies. LOL. And don’t think any of them were long winded. Long winded helps MUCH better than short replies that don’t help at all, like carry less stuff.
This is NOT about being materialistic at all. It’s ALL about being prepared for every eventuality! I am a planner and a big time prepper. So like NASA, I have backups to backups. I’m the guy they all come to for any repair or breakdown or whatever. Have every tool one can think of. Have...well, never mind the list is simply endless. But most stays on the truck with a commercial aluminum topper. And it has cams and alarms and anti-theft switches and... Anyway the whole point is having it with me if needed, not in storage, which I do have of course, but what I have deemed needed to have with me is not there.
I already plan on installing an alarm / camera system (Rear View Safety is great FYI) but the game cam idea was just GREAT!! Hiding a few of those won’t prevent theft, but will aid post haste getting the stuff back. And another good idea was signs as well scaring off the generic everyday crackhead.
The story about helping out the homeless guy so he wouldn’t steal your gen? YEP. That’s me and the way I think also. Killing 2 birds. Not only do I get to help others, I get to “maybe” gain added security. Not foolproof. But better option than not for sure.
Ok, but, when it’s all said and done, other than the little tricks and tips, what I am leaving here with is most others share this same fear and not really much you can do about it, so go enjoy and just cross your fingers. Think best advice is hook up with others traveling. Which seems bizarre to me, to say, how exactly you go about meeting a stranger and then hooking up. But that’s all part of the full time lifestyle that I will have to learn as I go. Very apprehensive about the whole thing, but not enough to stop me!
I don't think you getting it. It's just stuff That's why you have insurance. Now just learn to relax and enjoy yourself.
You won! You get to travel the country without a care in the world.
The only baggage you have weighing you down is the baggage you create yourself. Otherwise you can literally go anywhere and do anything!
You are on a new adventure don't let that baggage weigh you down
