Definitely. Six months is a long time for water to be sitting in a holding tank. I wouldn't take the chance. - ScottGNomadDrain now and then fill and sanitize later.

2 years ago in January we were in Amado, 30 miles N of the border, and we woke up one morning to a 13 temp and froze water hose. - ed6713ExplorerI drain mine completely.
When I refill, I use the bleach solution to sanitize the system before use. - Mandalay_ParrExplorerI would keep it full to minimize the amount of air in the tank. Air is your enemy .
