Toilet Paper :-)

Hi all. Looking for some knowledge on this subject.....
We have been rving for 20 + years and I ran across a post on this
Forum over the last couple of days that doesn't seem right.
Someone said Costco house brand tp Is ok to use in the fifth wheel toilet?
I have always used Thetford or the Scott double ply for septic tanks they sell at WM and CW.
Is it true that Costco brand disintegrates quickly or is this incorrect?
Any replies would be appreciated.
Thanks for your time on this dirty subject! :-)

  • Some do and some don't. DW uses the stuff like she owns a oversize woodlot or something. I almost always use the public washrooms in the RV park where we park. No problem. Other FullTimers here and in RGV RV parks in Texas tell us all TP will breakdown in time and lots of water with each flush is highly recommended.

DW gets the real cheap TP from Wally Mart which is only one ply but tells me - it feels like No. 1 sand paper. BB:R

p.s. Around here folks say "pepper" when they refer to TP. I.E. we're all out of 'pepper'.:h
  • Used to go with ultra charmin. One day it did clogg up our line.Had to have pump truck come out to clear out.
We also have a septic at our house.Septic guys said not to use it.Hard to break down.
Showed us a tp test .take a sheet of tp in a glass with water stir it up and see if it breaks down or clumps up.
To this day we go with Poms TP from Sams Club.
  • It doesn't have to be septic tank safe to go into a holding tank, use what's on sale.
  • I use the same stuff in the RV as at home. Pretty sure it is costco Kirkland brand.

Some say to take a bit of TP and put it in a jar with some water and a lid. Shake it up, and if it disolves, it will be OK. I never checked it out, but never had a problem either. The 3" line is pretty large, I can not imangine the TP getting stuck in there.

  • Hello, I've heard this, and I use Angel Soft. There was a You Tube demo, or an article a couple of years ago. The demo was to line up several different brands, and do the disintegrate demo. I don't remember all the brands in the demo, but Angel Soft was one of the top brands to work. Good luck in your search.
  • We use whatever TP is on sale........30+ yrs and I haven't been able to clog an RV toilet.
Done it at home but not in an RV.

AS for Costco house brand......buy some....drop it in a jar of water and time the disintegration.

I've never done the test with any brand......it's just TP not a sheet of paper.
3" line from toilet to tank and a 3" line from tank.
Water is the key........TP is not the problem
