We also "follow the sun" as full timers. But we still have mornings where I will run the furnace for 10 minutes or so to take the chill off.
Where we can eat through some propane is extended traveling. On a recent 8 week trip (about 6,000 miles) we were always in CG's with 50amp service. However if you are towing 4 or 5 days a week and have a large frig that can chew up some propane.
In an entire year we probably only fill each of our 30's twice. I haven't kept track this year of exact prices, but I would guess we spent less than $200 every year on propane refills.
