To be honest full-timing is something I would like to do 20 years from now, but not something I would contemplate at my current age/position/status/etc. With your 25-years in the IT business, we are probably about the same age. I admire your courage and tenacity and hope you sort through your health issues. It sounds like you've found a great partner in Cat - that's an important part of the journey.
As someone with multiple graduate degrees, I would advise you not to place too much emphasis on education. Do the cost-benefit math. It sounds like it's helping you with your issues (if it is truly a sort of dementia you're experiencing, studies have shown that keeping your brain active helps). But I would think hard about your significant other and the potential payoff. Don't count on a windfall once she's done with her studies. That being said, the payoff isn't always in $$. I work a 9-5 job in telecom but I'm also a perpetual student. I think it keeps my brain sharp. And it makes me happy which is also important.
Just my free advice (which is always what you pay for it). Good luck and keep up that blog! Might want to pick a lighter color for your rig, though...it's going to get wicked hot :-)
