Think thermal undies :). a pair can go under anything when more warmth is needed.
Buy items that are versitale. There are coats with 'removable liners' so you have a lighter coat when needed, or can use the liner when more warmth is needed etc.
space bags are wonderful also.
hubby owns 'zipper leg' camo pants. zip on and off for shorts or long pants.
It really is about how much you want to minimalize your items.
