Have you weighed your cargo?

1800 lbs. Family of 4. Includes all gear, and equipment, bikes, food, clothes, etc in rig added since delivery and ready for camping. Per Cat scale.

I dont see any reason to waste my time trying to weigh everything i put into my RV. Instead I simply load it up and drive over the closest scales on my way out of town. As long as Im under the axle ratings and under my trucks GCWR/GVWR I just dont care.

2400 pounds including 2 people. (scale weight - empty weight)

356#. That's the difference between my TT empty and loaded and only includes gear, no water, etc. But I'm pulling a 16'TT.

strange you should ask this question. we just bought another TT and are in the process of taking every thing out of the old TT and it is all in the living room on the floor. completely taking up the entire room. DW said she can't believe the truck pulled the TT the way we have loaded it to the roof with stuff. we are not weighting the TT , I think if we did we would have to stay home. No wonder I get lousy gas mileage.

We're going to Hershey RV show on Friday to thoroughly evaluate the small Class C's we've choosing between. On the short list are a couple of sprinters. I'm concerned about CCC. There seems to be some 'fuzzy' thinking (or at least fuzzy bloging) on the real CCC for the sprinter based vehicles. I know manufacturers post a label showing CCC of vehicle when it leaves the factory. That number doesn't include the dealer add-ons. I haven't yet met a dealer that can answer the 'how much does this RV weigh sitting right here and now, on your lot?' question. That worries me.

Someone suggested to me making a list of what we'd take on a trip, and adding it up. I did that, and am now trying to identify if I'm in line with other folks. We're 2 adults traveling without kids.

Last week we bought a Phoenix Cruiser 2350. We had been looking at small Cs for over a year and looked closely at the Sprinter based units, which are very impressive. We decided to stick with the Ford based C because of lack of comfort with weight and design limits of the Sprinters. Just our ignorance, but having owned several small motorhomes we just intuitively know how to pack and not overload those more familiar Fords and Chevys. Again, not knocking Sprinters (almost bought a View), but just decided not to do that. Old dogs and knew tricks or something.

We have had Class B for years prior to this new unit and with Bs you learn to take less and enjoy more. It took years to learn that lesson. We travel just the two of us with a dog.

Since we prefer to boondock, we travel with full tanks. That adds a lot of weight. The only time I actually weigh stuff is when I use a cargo hitch carrier. I weigh and try to distribute the load evenly from side to side.

I made calculations on our new Phonenix Cruiser from the specs and just decided to not worry about it because I had ample room for error. This is a much more precise decision with a trailer, of course.

I want to find a place to weigh each axle on my Navion 24 G. This past week I was told these units have rubber valves and can handle 60 lb inflation but he says most of these "C's" are over weight and need more air in the tires so the valves need to be changed to metal valves before I can get extensions. I am going to have someone check this out. So...... Can anyone suggest where I can weigh my RV and who can switch the valves for me and add extensions?

You can go to any CAT scale and find the weight for each axle.

I assume with a GVWR of 11,030#,it would be hard to exceed your CCC. I imagine your MH is probably around 8,000#.
