What to do with mail for six months of RV travel.

If you get a mail forwarding service, they can scan the mail to your online account and you can read it online. Here's a few to shop from:

Thanks for all the great ideas. I hate to bother a neighbor for months. So I may do a mail forwarding service. Good Sams has one as well, as the one in Green Cove Springs recommended here.

We forward to son's house in same town. Very little mail worth worrying about.

When on the road I forward mail to my sister's house and she notifies me of any mail (I get very little snail mail) and scans it to my email if important. This year there was not one piece I needed her to mail to me.

This, and setting up as many of your monthly bills to auto-pay or provide the monthly bill either on-line or via e-mail. I've done this and never got any mail that I needed sent to me, although my neighbors would contact me and let me know what had come in. They just toss it all on the kitchen table for my review when I get back.

Get a mail forwarding address. You won't receive any junk mail. You can just let them know when you want your mail sent to you either at a RV park, if they allow it or have it sent to a SMALL local post office c/o General Delivery. Have it sent weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, etc. We did this for 16 years of full-timing. No issues. Even when you're home you can use the same mail forwarding company. Then you won't get the junk mail at home either.

We had this same conundrum in 2008 when we started traveling about six months each summer and since we only live about 15 minutes from the St. Brendan's Isle (SBI) office have used them every since then. We maintain 12 months a year service with SBI and have done a change of address with most everyone, especially financial such as credit cards, and then each April we also do a temporary change of address with the post office so that any mail that does come to the S&B will be forwarded to SBI. You just have to make sure whenever ordering items online to use different shipping and billing addresses. We only have our mail sent to us from SBI about once a month or less as we have them scan anything that looks like it needs immediate attention. It has really worked well for us for the last 10 years.

We just signed up for a mail service and used it when we were traveling. Best thing we found is we had no junk mail any longer since the mail service doesn't forward junk mail.
