- JoeChiOhkiExplorer IIStarted with the old Truck Camper, just bought a 2006 Heartland Bighorn 3400RL, granted, I don't travel in the classic full-time sense, just live in RVs :p.
- RV_wandererExplorerHitchhiker 29-foot 5er w/ 3 slides towed by a Dodge RAM 3500 diesel. No major problems thus far. The 5er has proved to be a very capable, well built unit.
- AuntSmurfExplorerWe presently have a 29 ft TT but plan on upgrading after the first of the year to a 5er. At the time we purchased the tt we had a 1/2 ton gas pick up. DH went "looking" at a dealership a few months after we started full-timing. Needless to say, it cost us! Lol! Now have a 3/4 T diesel. So now have the towing capabilities for something bigger. Finally going to take the bite. Also started ft'ing with 1 dog and are now up to (I hate to say! LOL) ummm, four! But they are sweeties. More space is definitely needed. Kinda got talked into the one we have now by the dealer. Know our own minds this time and won't be talked into anything. I know what I will and will not compromise on this time around.:B

- LG61820ExplorerI think you'll find that folks full-time in what they can afford. I don't full-time yet, but plan to do so in a couple of years. I had thought that I wanted a small travel trailer so I went to an RV show. I looked at many small trailers, sat in them, walked around in them and think I laid down on the bed in a couple. After the show and looking at the pictures in the brochures and on my cell phone, I realized that, for me, I would want a dedicated bedroom.
While at the show I asked a salesman if this size trailer could be pulled by an SUV. I was advised, "no problem". After a more education I realized that at the very least he was guilty of puffery!
I walked into an older, well-kept motorhome for sale in my town and instantly knew. . . the way you know when you enter a house you are considering buying. It was likely not the best time to buy as I am not yet ready to leave, but I don't regret having a paid for motorhome and money set aside for the repairs that will surely come. It is 26 feet long. Buying something now with possible full-timing. Wondering what size most people live in.
Just so you know, length doesn't indicate size. The stated length is seldom accurate. My 36 footer is actually closer to 39' long.
You need to look at the square footage of living space. Every manufacturer has to state the ACTUAL square footage. There's a lot of difference in living space in the same "length" of campers.
