Where do you winter, and why, because....

My husband and I took our trip of a lifetime to Alaska from Massachusetts. We are currently in Haines, Alaska and have fallen in love with it and can not leave, but have to. Looked at real estate, but we also are discussing full-timing in the future because we are so comfortable in our 33' Winnie Sightseer. The question is, where would we winter? We are the private, rural, no cities, no bingo, going out to eat all the time people.
We love our privacy to a certain extent, love sightseeing and wildlife. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • We like Desert Trails in Tucson. Away from town and quiet, lots of activities but no pressure to participate, lots of good eating choices in Tucson and easy access. Add to that great weather in the winter and easy walking access to miles of hiking trails.
  • We also love Haines Alaska! One of our favorites. Are you at the Hitchup RV Park? We also had a 33' Sightseer. Had to eventually trade. Now have a diesel pusher. 33' Sightseer has a great floor plan! As for wintering, depends on if you want desert or mountains or near water and how warm you want to be. States that are popular are: AZ, TX, AL, FL. We like Hot Springs Arkansas. Mild winters (not warm), beautiful scenery. We found a beautiful new RV park in Freeport FL that is very rural and quiet and near enough to town that you can drive to restaurants. About 11 miles from the beach. It's called Live Oak Landing. Not as warm as south florida but we like it better.
