WiFi mobile services

What are the most popular mobile wifi services and devices, and the least expensive ?

I want to be able to share my travels with close friends while I'm venturing into the unknown. I have a website and Youtube channel that I post progress with my RV. Mostly, complaining about the weather right now. I try to edit my video's down to around 100/mb or less. I have a Tracfone service, with an LG Rebel 4 phone. Tracfone does not allow tethering to any device. As nice as my cell phone is, the editing sux. And free wifi hot spots are not very safe and are very slow. That is about all the knowledge I have on this subject and need to be educated on this subject.

I would like to hear your opinion on what is best and cheapest for a full time RV-er.

  • Either an unlimited data plan or at least something like the 60GB plan from straighttalk with an unlocked phone capable of tethering or hotspot use.

I have a MotoG4 New from Motorola they are about $150 or the MotoE5 play for about $130.

Make sure you buy an unlocked phone, Amazon or the manufacturers sell them. Buying from a Tracfone derivitive like straighttalk or Total wireless will get you a phone with the mobile hotspot disabeled.
  • There are resellers of Verizon that have unlimited data and tethering.
  • Best and cheapest usually don't belong in the same sentence. Verizon is the choice for most of us for the best coverage.
  • If you’ll spend most of your time off the beaten path, I’d plan on getting a portable hotspot, get a WeBoost to allow you to get a better signal, and try to find a good or unlimited data plan. We have been all over the country using Verizon, and overall their coverage has been good, though we also had success in the east with ATT. For your WeBoost, I’d mount a short mast on the ladder of your rig( or other high point. That will allow you to manually rotate the antenna to get the best signal. Good luck.
