3 Months to repair a coach door lock and hydraulic jack

A spring broke on my Dutchmen camper last spring, but in the last of August the coach door would not open. I can actually see a piece has broken off on the inside.
Since the extended warranty runs out in May, I took it in to Camping World at NLR, where I bought it, on October 21, 2015. They still have not fixed anything.
The 3 times I have gotten anyone on the phone, they have given me different reasons, no parts, parts on order, and so forth.
Is this typical behavior from Camping World?

  • CW seems to be a problem...from prior posts I have read. Probably, the best approach is to find a licensed repair shop...make sure GS ESP is called...and approves the repair... or at least wants to send someone to see what's what.
  • STOP leaving your RV's at any RV dealership. You leave it, you give them the go ahead to 'get to it whenever they **** please'.

Get an APPOINTMENT and bring it in for the appointment.

BTW....the people that DO make appointments are the ones that are getting their RV's repaired while yours sits out back in the lot.

    Thanks!
  • Sounds pretty typical of the service we received at the Madison, WI Camping World. That's why we don't do business with them anymore. Our local dealers provide much better service and their shop rates are much more reasonable. Our experience was that once they sold us a coach they could have cared less about warranty work. Had our motorhome for 5 months out of the first year we owned it and never did take care of the repairs. Ended up taking it to a local dealer. Less than 2 weeks and everything was fixed properly.
  • bmattision,

I apologize for the issues that you are having with your RV. I will be building and forwarding your post and contact information onto my leadership team for further review and follow up. I am not familiar with the acronym "NLR." What is the name of the location that you have been dealing with?

    Thanks,
    Tom
  • I see many posts from folks that complain of similar (and other) issues. However, it is rare that people post positive experiences, so perhaps it depends on the staff at the particular CW. I am fortunate that the CW I go to has always given me good and timely service. Hope it all works out for you and that your issues are resolved.
