7 cents off a Gallon of Gas at Pilot/ credit card.

I mapped out a trip that I'm thinking about taking that is roughly 2400 miles each way, for a total of 5000 miles to provide some looseness around the edges.

At 7 cents a gallon savings and estimating 8 MPG, my total savings for the trip would be $43.75, assuming that I could fill up at a Pilot or Flying J every single time. For me, this is not enough of a savings to bother with getting a charge card when I already get cash rewards on both my check card and regular Visa card.

5% of $1.00 = .05 cents
$3.899 for Diesel (example only)

Yup - definatley better as long as you pay your bill off every month so there is no finance charges.

HEB stores across Texas and New Mexico are offering 11 cent discount until September.

Yup - saved 12 cents over the weekend from credit price.

When you use the card, the savings is off the "cash" price, not the "credit" price. So you are actually saving about $0.12 from the credit price.
