AAA -RV Plus far superior to GS

No question in my mind -- AAA response is quicker more complete and cheaper. GS phone service is terrible and takes forever to get a response. I have been put on hold and routed to multiple dispatchers with out help and then hung up on. BYE BYE GS

  • I have used AAA, Coachnet and GS. My experience over 20+ years of RVing:

AAA would respond quicker and the people manning the phones were efficient and better trained. But, AAA would send the wrong equipment for my trailer (5th wheel) when it needed to be towed.

Coachnet was adequate in all respects.

I've used GS platinum for the last couple years. I have needed 1 tow for personal car, 3 tire changes and a lockout. In every case, the people manning the phones appeared poorly trained and took MUCH longer gathering information than they should need. The tow was pretty quick (40 minutes) but confusing. 2 different tow companies called and gave 2 different response times (both high) and another company just showed up in 30 minutes. All of the tire changes were terrible (2 trailer one truck). They all were in very populated areas of Orange County, CA. They always sent someone from 30-60 miles away and it took 90-120+ minutes. The last one kept calling back with increased wait time and I just canceled it and changed the tire myself. Not happy with GS.
  • Good Sam Roadside Service offers two coverage plans “Standard” and “Platinum”. With the “Standard” plan, all your household vehicles are covered, including cars. According to the history few of us have bad experiences with aaa. But at the same time few members use to prefare this only.

AAA or CAA will not cover your costs depending on where you are and what you need. Please be very careful and check what you are covered for and where. Check and see if you can get towed in the states you will travel in. You will find that coverage varies and is different depending on where you are. Eddy

And that is why I switched to Good Sam. Good Sam was also cheaper that CAA RV coverage.

  • When we bought our MH 3 years ago I checked on coverage with AAA and GS. It was definitely not cheaper.
  • wesdevoe, thank you for your post. • Recent history has had two less than happy experiences with aaa, changed to coach net and did not like the total lack of response on my first stuck on the highway call. I now have good Sam, have had two calls in the last three years and have no complaints....yet. Think I'll stick with gs for a while.
  • Just remember, your AAA coverage will vary by the state you are in.
Some states do not cover RVs.
  • I never had good luck with AAA, dropping them over 10 years ago. Have had very good service from Good Sam with response service always under 45 minutes! Two tows and 3 tires over the years no complaints!
