Am I missing something- Camping World Discount

I am a new good sam member- and one of the main reasons I joined was because of the camping world discount. I only shop there online since we do not have one near us at all.

I was on camping world website before I joined and had everything ready to purchase in my cart- Had my total price and decided to wait and I will join good sam and use the advertised discount...

Well- I joined waitied until it was all active and again went to camping world website added all the same items- Same price??? I chat with customer service and she advises me that good sam members get the special internet pricing (well thats not true I got the same price as a non good sam member) and the free shipping of $99- (again who cares, I have a coupon code for that, that anyone can use anyways)So I login to my good sam account- Cool tons of coupons. They are in store only.....

So am I missing something or is it pointless for me to have a good sam membership for a Camping world discount? Definatly not renewing if they don't offer or start to offer a real discount for online customers also.

So disapointed! And a little upset I feel like it promised this great discount and well.... doesnt follow through with it. Please tell me I am missing something and the customer service rep was incorrect....

    I belong to Good Sam because I love the Samborees and local chapter campouts. The discount (or not) at Camping World doesn't mean much to me. I always comparison shop for my purchases.

    It has been mentioned on here before that everyone pays the same price on the website, I personally cannot verify the truth of that statement. I know non-members do pay a higher price in the stores.

    ash120, ever been to a Samboree? Pennsylvania has a couple every year and you are welcome to come to Ohio's Samborees, we have three per year.

    Several years ago, when I used to belong to GS/CW, I bought something once and they gave me my discount....which then reduced the cost to the normal retail!

    I have Amazon Prime also, however, I have found several items cheaper at CW. Most recently a Tire Minder TPMS. Also like the convenience of visiting our nearby store. I think some of the other perks are worthwhile from GS, have used campground discount, gas discount etc. All-in-all, it's nice to have a group dedicated to RV's and I hope CW stays around, not many other retail sources dedicated to RV.

    I also shop Amazon, eBay, and ETrailer, they are always cheaper than Camping World and we have no store close to us either. We have been Amazon Prime member for 5 years now and it is well worth the cost. I am finding out that being Good Sam members is really not worth much, AND I foolishly bought into the hype and sprung for a life membership.

    I once reviewed the Good Sam club for the same purpose but after goofing with the numbers, and visiting our local Camping World, I really didn't see how it would benefit me and have instead opted for Walmart and Amazon for now. Perhaps if I was camping more often then once per month some of the discounts at RV parks might help but that's just not the case at this time. I instead splurged for an Amazon Prime Account and have so far been pretty happy with that. FWIW

    never bought anything from them online but at the store I just give them my phone number and I get the GS discount.
