Break down update
Several folks asked me to keep them updated on my breakdown and tow, so here it is.
We broke down on I-5 at exit 57 on a dark and windy night, thought that we had run out of fuel, but was on a long downhill and were able to get off at the off ramp. Have you ever tried to handle a fo footer with no power steering?
Called GS and they had a guy there right away, actually from the truck stop across the freeway, and couldn't get it started. Had to call GS and request a tow and had to call again in an hour and was told that he couldn't find anyone and to call 911 and request assitance and GS would cover the tow. Was not happy with Robert or Roberto, but 911 transferred me to state patrol, who called me back in five minutes with a tow truck and he was on his way after finishing a tow. He even checked the gate at the place I wanted to take it in Longview, but his key didn't work. got there in an hour and towed me across the freeway to a safe place next to the shop at Gee Cee's truck stop and we left it there as there was no other safe place we couls drop it. Monday, I went back to Gee Cee's and the the shop there couldn't start it, so I called the same company, Carl's Towing out of Longview and they came and towed it to Peterson Cat in Longview.
I wasn't sure if Good Sam RS would cover both tows, but I got checks in the mail today for both of them. Way to go GS RS.
So my kudos are: 1. GS for getting my fuel to me quickly. 2. Washington State Patrol for finding me a tow truck inside of ten minutes. 3.The shop at Gee Cee's for their great try to get me on the road, even though it didn't work. 4.Big shout to the guys at Carl's Towing. 5. Peterson Cat in Longview for giving me a good estimate and sticking to it. 6. Good Samm for coming thru with the checks for both tows. 7. Gee Cee's truck stop restaurant for one heck of a huge country fried steak breakfast.
Cons: 1. the weather. 2. The guy, robert or roberto, who I feel could have done a better job. 3. the fact that the phone number on my GSRS app would drop off after about 15 seconds as you were trying to access it. Had to call the number on the back of the card.
On edit. The problem was the IAPC, HEUI pump, 6 injectors and seals. Peterson CAT also readjusted the valves and new oil filter and oil change.
