You're paying to have it shredded. :) That's included in your charge.
Yeah, overall it might be a whole $.50 a month.
Same monthly charge if I shred ten items or none.
Overall I can't worry about such minor items in my life such as junk mail.
Thank you accounting police though. :)
While this may all be peanuts to you, consider the facts of junk mail's effect on the environment. A subject most people are at least minimally concerned about:
From 41punds.org:
More than 100 million trees are destroyed each year to produce junk mail. 42% of timber harvested nationwide becomes pulpwood for paper.
About 28 billion gallons of water are wasted to produce and recycle junk each year.
You waste about 70 hours a year dealing with junk mail.
The average adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail each year. 44% goes to the landfill unopened.
On average, we receive 16 pieces of junk mail a week, compared to only 1.5 personal letters.
The majority of household waste consists of junk mail.
40% of the solid mass that makes up our landfills is paper and paperboard waste.
Junk mail inks have high concentrations of heavy metals, making the paper difficult to recycle.
$320 million of local taxes are used to dispose of junk mail each year.
If that is not enough to get your attention to how much junk mail actually costs us as a society then hopefully GSE will step up and become more environmentally aware.
Junk mail is worth fighting no matter who sends it to you and you can bet it's costing you far far more than you think. Just think about how much wasted fuel is used to FORWARD all that Good Sam Junk to Full timers? Were not only putting it through the postal system once but TWICE!
