Just want to hear if any of our forum members are members of Coast to Coast and what you think of it?How does the point system work? Looks like you pay a lot of money to be a member and add annual dues on top of that and then have to buy "Trip Points" to stay somewhere for free? Just got done visiting a park that tried to sell us a membership but honestly I walked out not knowing that much about how the system/program/membership worked anyways but now have lots of questions and unfortunately we are no longer at the park to ask them to the sales person.Thanks in advance and I will check back later for replies,Robert

You will get a lot of negative responses on this forum, but if you buy your membership on the secondary market and don't pay their high up front membership costs you can make C2C work for you. There are only a limited number of resorts so you have to be willing to go where they are, and learn to work within their rules, they are quite strict. Don't worry about the points, they work a lot like credits, just make sure your account stays positive. I use C2C probably 30 or 40 nights per year, I feel I am getting my money worth. GNP all charge 1500 points per night, $15, still well worth it. If you want more details from me, IM me, I will respond with more details.

We full timed traveling for 7 yrsBought a 'home park' with frozen yearly dues and the C2C Deluxe affiliate membership via RESALETotal buy-in was $950 (home park membership/transfer fees/1st year dues plus C2C Deluxe membership/transfer fees/1st year dues)We used C2C affiliate parks to stay at WHEN they were convenient (in area we were headed to)Stayed at a lot of those high priced private resorts/parks for just $10/$15 per night FHU site and we could stay up to 2 weeks at a time with the deluxe membership.Bought 'Points' on line at the C2C website..made reservations to parks via C2C website. May depend on where you camp but in my State there are about 4 and given the choice I probably wouldn't choose to stay at any of them. Nuff said?

Back around 1990 we had C2C, cost a buck a night. Then they started a chit system and went up. And up again and fewer resorts. Gave it all up about 1995.

Last summer we were going to stay at a GNP in northern Ohio on Lake Erie, this park charges 4500 points or $45.00 a night. That said, depending on how many nights you spend in your RV, the cost saving can be significant. My home park has a yearly maintenance fee of $375, and Coast to Coast is $150 per year. My home park has four other resorts in the network and charge members $0 per night. At an average of $35-$40 per night, 10-12 nights cover my maintenance fee. For us, this system works, for others, maybe not.

I approached this issue from the opposite direction. We bought into our host campground because of its proximity to our home and saw it as a place to camp on a regular basis. We paid a lot, probably too much, but we saw it as a long-term purchase and something we could pass on to our children who also camp. The C2C membership was a bonus. The annual membership is not much, the nightly rate is very low and we have seldom had issues getting reservations wherever we travel. Since member campgrounds apparently reserve a few sites for C2C members, we have been able to get a site with as little as a few hours advanced notice.

If you are looking for a host campground just to get into C2C, then find the cheapest one you can anywhere in the country. But if you are going to use your host campground as your base for travel, then find one you would enjoy returning to for years to come.

How would you buy resale and where is this secondary market? Do you have to know a guy who knows a guy then call his pager/beeper and meet him on a back ally corner with no lamp posts?

In all seriousness. How would you do it? During my presentation I recall them saying it was not an option to resell our membership, only that it could be passed down two generations.

Sounds like y'all got way better offers and deals. My "home CG" wanted a very big one time membership fee and the annual dues were higher than what y'all pay and C2C dues were $199. Thanks for the explanation on the points. Makes more sense now.

We have C2C and use it whenever possible. The point system is a little confusing but a point is a penny, thus 1,ooo points equals $10.oo. We spend a lot of time in California and Arizona in the winter and are able to use it a lot.
Is it a perfect system no. But if you take advantage of it and use it you will save a lot of money. We just spent a week in Yuma for $10.oo a night. We might be able to find monthly site for close to the same nightly price, but other than Algodones and the dental work. We just don't like Yuma that much.
Is it a perfect system no, can you live within the C2C system yes but we sure wouldn't want to. But it's not hard to use it more than enought to save some good coin.
