We are in the process of looking for our retirement home and that opening up another credit card will hurt my credit score and possibly cost me more money.
Opening up another credit card should not affect your credit rating. Nowadays companies look at it like "if all these other places trust your credit, you must be a safe risk." Old school was you should cancel unused cards but on your crediting rating canceling cards is a more likely ding. If you don't want the card you would be better off just cutting it up
I canceled the card before I left the premises in the parking lot. I mean the whole thing happened in less than a minute while I was in line, with other people behind me. He caught me off guard, we just purchased our camper from them and I receive coupons and things constantly from them. I'm mad cause he didn't tell me what it was, he said "Good Sam". As far as my credit rating goes my bank informed me that YES it could possibly effect my credit rating which could effect my interest rate. If not for that, the whole thing would be a wash. thanks for the reply tho
