I have been approved for credit cards based on a current credit card number. Credit check often takes only minutes. I did not have to fill out any application or supply ANY additional information. BOOM - instant credit card.
If OP thought they were re-signing up for GS Club why would it be unusual to have to provide a signature?
I can certinly see where someone could be misled into signing up for a credit card!
