DECEIPT AND FRAUD

I went into Camping World in Berkely MA to buy one or two things. As it always happens we bought about $200 worth before we got through. I asked to renew my Good Sam membership so I could get the good discounts at Camping World. So far so good. NOW I was asked to use the charge card machine to answer "a survey" which I did agree to, it asked personal questions but that was ok since I thought it was for my Good Sam Card. The clerks were very VERY helpful, no complaint there BUT what occurred and I did not know until I got home is this: THAT "SURVEY" was an application for a VISA card from CampingWorld Comenity Card which I do not want nor did I get asked if I wanted it. ALSO I saw while in the store that I was being charged for 2 years for Good Sam not 1 year but the clerk said there was a special and instead of $50 it would be $25 so I thought OK. NOW at home and find out they applied for a VISA card for me I called Comenity Card Customer Service and CANCELLED the card that I NEVER APPLIED FOR knowingly!! BUT they tell me the whole transaction of Charges are on the NEW CARD not the card I swiped at the store. SO NOW I HAVE A BILL FROM A CARD I NEVER KNEW I APPLIED FOR OR USED. I charge on a specific card of mine that gives me rebates of $$$ for all purchases. I DO NOT ANY VISA CARD AND DO NOT WANT THE CHARGES ON THAT CARD. I WAS FRAUDULENTLY SIGNED UP FOR THE VISA CARD AND THEN THEY CHARGED MY PURCHASES ON THE NEW CARD. I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. NOW HAVE TO TRAVEL ABOUT 50 MILES TO THAT STORE TOMORROW TO RETURN ALL MERCHANDISE TO HAVE IT THEN CHARGED TO THE CORRECT CARD I HAVE. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN, BEWARE WHEN GOING TO CAMPINGWORLD, THEY WANT TO SIGN YOU UP FOR VISA CARD AND NOT TELL YOU AND THEN CHARGE YOUR PURCHASES TO SAID CARD WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION!!!!

  • Why not wait for the bill and just transfer the balance to the card you want to use then cancel the new card.
  • NOTHING MISSING here. I went in to buy some things and did want to renew my Good Sam Club membership. IT may have been a big mistake on the part of the young man at the register, not sure, DO NOT WANT TO ESCALATE until I talk with them tomorrow. I do want the merchandise so YES I want them to credit it all back and then charge it to the card I WANT IT CHARGED TO not the VISA they signed me up for. There was some confusion at the register so I want to give them a chance. I was really pissed off when I wrote the note on the forum but am a fair person and will give them an opportunity. I do not want anyone in trouble IF it was actually what they were told to do, the fish rots from the head down and possibly the kid made a mistake and signed me up for the VISA by mistake.

Did they ask for your SSN? Any survey that asks for that information should NOT be completed under any circumstances.

Also, did they have you sign electronically for the "survey"? That's another red flag that something is not kosher. A survey won't have you sign anything.

You need to make sure that the credit check is removed from your report.

^^^^^ That! There is something missing in this.

IF a store told me I was taking a survey and it turned out to be a CC application, IF I swiped one card and they charged another, IF I thought the company had committed fraud, I would return the items immediately and NOT re-purchase from them. I would turn them into the BBB, local news investigative reporter and state AG. Con artists are very nice to you.

  • So your going to drive back and return what you bought then buy it from them again on another card? Yea, that will show them!
  • Good Evening RVER,
I want to escalate this to our executive team as soon as possible. Can you please send us a private message with your contact information and we can get this to our leadership team to start an investigation and follow up with you.

    Thank you...Rudy
  • Sure these folks in the store did not work for Wells Fargo last week?
