Deceptive marketing pratices!

I am not a "Good Sam" member nor have I ever been.
I recently received via snail mail a "Good Sam Member Bulletin" where it repeatedly says I am a "Good Sam Member" and then goes on to try to sell me insurance. I have received these before.
This is deceptive any way you look at it, and wrong.
If "Good Sam"/Affinty continues to use these deceptive marketing practices, I for one will avoid spending any money with the group.
This "Bulletin" has Scott Blanc's signature printed in the closing which sends up the red flags with me.
I will not respond to any correspondence with Mr. Blanc.
Marcus as the CEO would be the only one I would listen to.

To the OP: Actually the above profile on your post reflects you are a Senior Member of Good Sam's RV.NET Forum.
  • What does the original posters rant have to do with Good Sam Roadside assistance?
    The connection escapes me.
  • Thanks a lot! You just reminded me that I need to shop for tire covers. :)
  • Gosh...if I decided to boycott every company that sent me offers in the mail, (deceptive or not) I'd have to go live in a cave on the moon.
    Recycle bin is your friend.
Not worth spilling your Cheerios over.
  • How is it deceptive? Are you feeling deceived because you are not sure if you are a member or not? They have your email. Either from this forum or elsewhere (maybe you signed up for a raffle somewhere). Your email address is thrown in a database and the email goes out to everyone in that database.

From what I've seen, Mr Blanc is like a VP or something and a big wig especially with the insurance side. So why not correspond with him? Would you expect marcus to correspond with you about purchasing insurance, roadside assistance, or even a sewer hose at camping world?

I don't see how it's deceptive. If they said you owed them money and was gonna garnish it or sue you for it, then yes. But you should know if you are a member or not. If you don't want to buy insurance, don't buy it.
  • Its called junk mail around here and I put it in a special box and burn everything now and then. They do have some good prices on stuff I have ordered from them on line. They are good at being accurate when I order and the people in the store are VERY helpful so I just over look junk mail.
