The two different programs are administered by two different companies. State Insurance regulations require that the direct to consumer ESP be insured and administered by a licensed insurance company, so the claims are handled directly by our insurer. The version sold through the dealerships is a traditional service contract, so the administrator is not required to have licensed adjustors on staff. Makes no difference to you as a consumer, but we have to do things a little bit differently on the back end for compliance reasons.
