Bought a Scamp!

That Moby would work for a desert, as with it's marketing video, but not for the midwest where we have thunderstorms.

Where in the world could you sit comfortably for hours on end, waiting the storm out??

Theres only separated sleeping mattresses on top in the tent and in the small tear drop camper. Don't like the idea of my young kids being in a separate sleeping area either. A tall ground based expedition tent would be more comfortable and much cheaper.

Congrats. I am a HUGE molded fiberglass RV fan. Laura and I just finished our first season camping as empty nesters with our new-to-us Casita 17' FD. You will love your Scamp 13'.

We started out with a Six cylinder Ford and a 14 Ft Shasta. Now on our sixth trailer . Congratulations and many years of enjoyment ahead.

George, so glad to hear that you are up and around again. Does your Honda have a stick shift or the CVT? Just curious.

Your chosen tow vehicle brings to mind our 1985 vacation. My wife, 2 children and I traveled from MI to CO and back, towing a 13' UHaul (fiberglass egg trailer) with a stick shift, 2.2L Dodge Omni. I did have a hard time maintaining 50 mph on modest hills, but I think your Fit has about 1/3 more HP than that Omni. Just one thing I'd advise: check your hitch mount bolts every so often to make sure they're staying tight and not tearing any sheet metal.

Have a safe trip! Is it true, as someone said above, that you are towing with a Honda Fit? If this were anyone else, I would wag my ultra-conservative "weight police" finger -- but I am pretty certain that you, of all people, know exactly what you are doing. ;)

Yes! I am Tioga George.

In a few days, my trailer Scampy and I will be off on our first big trip together! We'll be traveling about 150 miles to San Diego.

I've been busy tweaking Scampy to get ready for that trip! Today, I'm installing an inverter into Scampy's interior in order to have 120AC power when dry camping and boondocking.

What a blast!

He bought a larger trailer to live in, and is using the Scamp for boondocking a couple days at a time.
He is towing it with his Honda Fit.
