My Good Sam membership auto-renewed and was automatically paid on November 22nd, 2013. After not receiving a new membership card by January, I finally called and spoke to someone who's attitude was "you really don't need the card." I was given a free night of camping certificate as a peace offering. I got the certificate in the mail, only to recognize that it was only valid for about 60 days... so that went unused. Now it's almost MARCH. Three months into my 12 month membership and I still don't have a physical membership card. My initial card was so flimsy that it disintegrated in my wallet, and the text is not readable.You really don't seem to want me or my family as customers do you? My father-in-law is also a member, and has been upset about not receiving his magazine for a long time. I explained the new system and he claims he never received a letter about picking a new magazine. I'm very disappointed... At this point I want my membership dues back, and you can keep the card.Robert

Not sure but I suspect the delay is the firming up of the Pilot Flying J issue and printing of the GS cards that will work in the Pilot Flying J machines for the 3 cent discount on fuel. Wonder how much you paid for membership in November? The RVers renewing now will be paying about $30 a year. YIPES! Kind of evaporates that 3 cent discount on fuel. I just came back from a 4 month vacation and saved about $10 on GS RV Park discounts. I have found many RV parks give discounts for more than 1 day without the GS membership. $19 to $30 a year membership increase is about a 63% increase. Marcus did say we would see some big changes in GS.

It seems GS is not vey good at administering their own plans but really good at junk mail. I think Marcus really needs to get someone to straighten this mess out.

I renewed for $20 in November... glad I missed the price hike! Did you mistype your park discount savings? You were on a four month vacation and only saved $10 in park discounts? The RV park discount and Camping World discounts were really the only benefits we used all last year... I'll admit they were beneficial!

If your hoping to save using the SWIPE & save card good luck. The locations I have been to do not accept it.

The Swipe & Save is a feature that I would use, occasionally... only when traveling as there are no convenient PFJ's around us. My problem is the fact that I was charged, promptly!, for my membership renewal, but have not received the only physical item that comes along with that membership, even after calling. Good Sam used to be something you wouldn't own a camper without, now we're trying to justify the expense of the membership.

I was also a Presidents Club member at CW. I have given up on shopping there because I can match their prices most of the time at other RV parts dealers in the neighborhood. Also I dont have a sales guy following me around when I shop trying to sell me a Thousand Trails membership.

Never had anyone follow me around tryign to sale a TT membership.

A couple of weeks ago I had decided to purchase a Honda eu2000 and wanted to pick it up locally. CW's price was 999 for members. I called a local motorcycle dealer that was also a servicing dealer for Honda. Their price on the generator was a bit higher, but of course I didn't have to become a "member" to receive it. I told them what CW's price was and they matched it.

I guess the motorcycle dealerships price was less than $24 over CW's price? Because thats all a membership is. You actually could of probably gotten that generator cheaper from somewhere online and maybe wit hfree shipping.

If anyone is using Good Sam or Passport America and not receiving saving of a lot more than $10 on a trip, they are not effectively using the benefits available to them. We are wintering at a Passport America park and are saving $12 per day in the rate (they allow you to stay at the rate as long as you wish). We have been here since Oct and won't leave until April sometime, so have saved approx $360 per month since arriving. This rate also includes all electricity, the park has restrooms, showers and free working WIFI, a pool, log cabin community room, free local telephone calls and a very friendly laid back atmosphere. You can save a whole lot more than $10 if you even try a little bit.

I would not be so quick to criticize by saying something to the effect that GS does nothing. Last month, I posted that my GS RV insurance, which I had just purchased, was being raised $190 because I reported a change in Zip code for my motorhome storage location (only 10 miles from my home). In less than two hours, I was contacted by a insurance company supervisor who said he had a rep working on that problem because it did not sound right. One hour later I received a message that the initial agent was wrong and an RV can be stored anywhere within 100 miles of the owners residence with no added premium; hence, no added charge for me. I was ready to change my insurance company but decided to stay when that got straightened out.

UH. Today, I received a "special" discount deal to get a GS membership for one year for "Only" $25.00. Hmmm, According to the above quote. Wasn't such a GOOD DEAL after all. Maybe it was just a "special" bait, and switch. We gonna charge you full price, and call it a special deal.
