Emails to renew Good Sam Roadside Assitance 4 months early.

Is it really necessary to start bombarding us with emails to renew our service 4 months before it expires? Have had the service for years and have never filed a claim. I would expect a email thanking us for being profitable customers for you, not just another email address to bombard with spam emails.

PS: We did have an occasion where we should have called for service but were in such a remote area we decided to repair the problem ourselves because it took us less time to do so than we estimated how long it was going to take to get a service truck out to us.

Please use some common sense in your marketing programs.

I believe it was mentioned before (but about the GS Club), that they send out renewal notices early because many of their customers travel. If you can figure out a way to keep ALL spam out of your email, then please let me know. I maintain about 5 or 6 emails and each one gets email from companies all the time. Many I could swear that I opted out of. And what do you consider bombarded with emails? Once a day? Once a week? Once a month? Unless you are getting several a day and I can almost see once a day, I wouldn't call that bombarded. To me, bombarding is when that relative forwards about 5-10 emails a day. And even then, you don't want to tell your 75 yr old father to stop doing it....lol
Every magazine you subscribe to every organization you join (NRA etc) charitable org. etc etc all do the same thing. If you give once to these charities they wont ever leave you alone again ...ever...So I've stopped subscribing and throw the charities in the trash.. From what I gather all your donations dont get to that charity anyhow..so many pennies on the dollar the rest goes to whom ever is doing the collecting..
  • I get so many emails I don't want but appreciate getting an early reminder of things I do want. Its almost April and three months from now is June just when I'll be away and unable to receive snail mail and maybe iffy on email. I just don't understand the upset this causes. File it with the rest of the bills and pay it when you need to.

BTW if you originally paid by credit card, the RA plan renews automatically unless you cancel. That way you won't run out of coverage when you're away and you can still cancel anytime.

  • I agree it is very annoying. I don't even open them anymore, the 1st of the month I send payment. Let them keeping paying for mailings. Next year I may switch to Coach Net.
  • If you rely on emails, flyers etc to manage your renewals then perhaps your the one that needs common sense. Its mass mailing you are not being targeted there are more important things to worry about.
