Ext Service Plan

We purchased a RV from CW in Nashville and go the GS extended warranty. When if for some minor repairs and during the course of those repairs, CW in Georgia destroyed our warrant. All due to incompetence of the mechanics. $20k in warranty issues covered. After owning the RV less then a year and having in the shop for an additional 9 months, we traded it in. We canceled the contract and go about 1/2 the premium back. Asked for the warranty on our new Coach and CW GM was telling me how she was going to give me the warranty at their cost for all our troubles. She gives me a price of $4500, with a puzzled look on my face I asked why the same warranty on the GS website the warranty $3000.00, without blinking and no explanation she says, "no problem, $3000.00" Becareful on the pricing from the dealer. It's a big money maker for them and is negotiable. But, yes we are satisfied with the plan. Sometimes it takes a bit of time to get approval and you local service place will have to go to bat for you at times.

We have had the ESP plan for about 7 years. Every year it costs a little more and fewer things are covered. REad the fine print. What was covered a couple years ago is no longer covered. Trying to ferret out what they will actually pay for takes a Phila. lawyer. They will not pay to replace our washer/dryer which is unrepairable. They insist in a repair order being written up for non-existent parts which basically means we are on our own.

We have had awning sensors and fridge doors (seals) replaced before, but no longer and YES, we have a GOLD plan with additional seals and gaskets coverage.

Read the fine print. Most of these extended plans call for a dealer to perform annual preventative work on components and you pay full price for those. I.E.-Heater, A/c,Fridge, water heater, etc. They all cost money not covered by the plan.

I don't think he was referring to GS roadside assistance. He's looking at an extended warranty offer I believe.

Good Sam offers it own ESP.

The Good Sam plan works much better for me, It looks like they cover pretty much the same things. One thing is the GS plan allows for monthly, quarterly or yearly payments. The dealers plan is 4 years and money all up front, which provides little recourse if unhappy with coverage, good luck trying to get 3 years of refund from a company you are probably in a dispute with. I'm fairly handy so I'm not to concerned about minor repairs. I think it will be GS for me.

The policies are good just not thru a dealership. There are plenty of posts where people are having problems and GS etc say it's because they bought it thru the dealership not direct.

I have Good Sam ESP. The first time they covered the entire repair, two years ago. This last time, my repair facility needed more time than approved. I had to submit to their review board and was approved for an additional $650 which paid my entire repair less the deductable. The additional money was approved in 8 days and I just received the check today.
I can recommend Good Sam ESP.

Which ever you chose to buy be certain to check out who is the insurer behind the plan. Many of these third party plans can be poorly managed. You certainly do not want be the holder of a five year plan costing $$$$$ only to have the warranty company go belly up. Two reliable companies are Good Sam and Xtraride.

Do NOT buy either from the dealership.

Go on line/call and join directly, whether it is the extended service plan or Emergency Road side service.

Using the middle man way thru the dealership will cause you nothing but serious problems down the road. Call them direct to join.
