Extended Service Plan VSC - transferable

Interesting enough, I'm asking this on a late Friday since the plan administrator is closed. I'm in the process of purchasing a new trailer and trading in my old trailer (11 months old). I thought the Service Plan was transferable to a new trailer (or I was told and found that to be true via the search). Upon calling GS, they said yes it was and then when they could not find my name they gave me a number to call since I purchased the plan through the dealership (Camping World)...saying that these are different but a 'Good Sam' service plan is transferable.

I just found the paperwork and it says Good Sam Extended Service Plan and in little letters VCS. So is this transferable to a new trailer or is there some other type of GS service plan and this is some after market thing?

Its just a big pill to swallow when you paid about $2500 for a service plan with 4 years still on it.

Thanks in advance

  • An update on this as I just got a call from the CampingWorld dealer. Although my service plan is not "transferable" from my 1 year trailer to my new trailer, the value (4 of 5 years) is prorated and I get a credit to use on my new trailer. This is all fine with my as roughly this is 4/5ths of the original costs and what I would like/expect.
  • Hello scullerjay,

Thank you for your time and post, we apologize for the experience you are having with Extended Service Plan. Please provide your contact number and policy number in a private message. Also, the dealership you purchased your unit from.

    Thank you,

  • I understand how this works on a car and if I would transfer the service plan on a private sale. But…

For a GS policy it is transferable to a new trailer but there seems to be two classes of service plans those online with the GS website and those sold by Camping World that are branded as a GS service plan.

Anyways just asking if anyone knows the difference and how you “get value back” on a trade-in. For instance a cancellation with a prorated credit towards a service plan on the new trailer, etc.

    Thanks
  • Being "transferable" could mean it will transfer to the next owner of the camper, which in that case you add the value of the policy to the trade in.

My truck policy just transfers to the next owner, not to another truck.
