A company as big as National General Insurance does not go around willy nilly when it comes to what they can do or not do. They have huge legal departments. An insurance company is essentially nothing but a huge legal department.
OP......call or email your states Insurance regulation agency, whatever it may be called.
This is a well thought out response; however, it is based on the premise that insurance companies always do right and have researched everything first to be sure legality. As an attorney, I can tell you that is wishful thinking at best.
