Eye Opening

My husband & I are taking delivery of our first motorhome on Friday. We both just retired and plan on leaving for the warm south for the winter.

I found this site on the internet. We will be in the need of a emergency assistance program just in case we run into a problem. I'm so glad I was able to educate myself on Good Sam.

After reading what people have said on here my first thought was to exit myself from this insanity and look elsewhere. We will absolutely look elsewhere for our emergency needs.

I was of the belief that people who live the rv lifestyle were kind, warm and stuck together. Those beliefs became tainted after seeing how people attack each other on here.

I did enjoy reading about all the other subjects that this site offers. For that reason alone I will remain a member. Other than that I don't think Good Sam is what we are looking for.

In real life they usually are.

    Barbara,

I think most of us have had to learn that we need to be a little thick skinned to be on this or for that matter most forums. It is easy to hide behind a name that is not your real name and deal with folks that you may never meet. But, that tainted first impression concerning RV folks is mostly incorrect. RV folks for the most part are warm, generous, kind and will help you in a heartbeat. There are always the 'one percenters' but after a while those are fairly easy to weed out and ignore. Just concentate on the rest of the 99 percent that are here to share, learn and help. There is also Coachnet and AAA RV if you do not want to go with Good Sam and it sounds like you don't. So 'welcome'.

    Welcome.

Please don't judge God Sam and this site overall, on a few miscreants. Some want to name call names and bicker rather than honestly debate an issue. Ignore them. Use the "block member" function just a few times and it will all smooth out for you.

When it is all said and done, there are a lot of good people here that are willing to help.

I would certainly hesitate making a decision on road service based upon what you see here. Posted here are the problems. You very rarely see all the successes.

Lastly don't sweat the small stuff because really, it is ALL small stuff.
  • Hello. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Yes, there are a lot of differing opinions on here, and some are not stated too eloquently.
I will guarantee you though, if someone on here was in dire need of true help, even their hashest on line critic would stop and help.
There might be a lot of bickering, but we do all share the love of the open road and camping.
Hopefully, you can, or have learned some good information you may need in the future. If you do not like a thread, just don't read it. Move on to what interests you and stick to those posts.
    Have a great week!

  • Like anything else in life there a wide variety of people all of which have an opinion that they believe is the correct answer. BTW welcome qnd enjoy.
