I'm sorry your repair was not covered.
As a matter of info, in the future, to maintain good generator operation, it should be run once a month at least 30 minutes under at least half load....the more the better. This will keep the engine, generator and seals in good condition.
Personally, I never buy extended warranties or service plans. I am money ahead.
