Good Sam annual inspection

I am a Good Sam Elite member. One of my benefits is supposed to be a free annual inspection at Gander RV/Outdoors of my RV. Just what is this inspection suppose to include: Roof? Appliances" Gel coat? Tires? Other?
Thanks,
JimC
  • I’d ask Gander for what will be inspected but they’ll look until they find something.
  • To me, that would be a gimick to sell you something. Maybe a seal up your joints, caulking, etc. They will inspect, look your RV over, and try to sell you something. IMO.
  • Its an opportunity for them to see your rv and see what they can sell you that you may or may not need.
  • I would suggest reading your contract with Good Sam. You should have received a copy of the contract when you signed up or you may have to go on line to find the contract. Anything you get here will be a secondhand information.
I personally prefer to do my own inspection of all of the parts and functions of my TT myself. I know that I am not overpriced when I find something that needs attention. I also don't make me bring my TT to Good Sam to be parked for months on end until they have time to do the work.
  • Another Good Sam got you! Paid for an "inspection" so they can sell you a roof seal and void the "warranty" if you don't. They sell you the life time extended warranty too? Then when something break's it will be a not covered item. Good Sam = rip off for new the new RVer.
  • I took my 2020 Silverado in for the “free” oil change.at 6,000+ miles. You should have seen the list of needed items! Your RV will be similar. Practice saying “no,” “no” and “no.”
  • When I was young and our first TT the salesman conned us into a “extended warranty “ and we had to let the dealer do an annual inspection. The came back and said there’s a few spots on the roof needing caulking (8 months after purchase) and wanted $300! Two months later I got refunded the “warranty” and have been doing my own inspections and maintenance. Those are rip-offs.

Same here, I read the contract thoroughly, a 4 year extended service plan, expires July 2021. I won't be renewing or seeking any other kind of extended plan. Maybe if I can find a drive train only deal that will cover major engine, transmission, rear axle items with a big deductible, I would go that way.
To date, I have gotten nearly all of my premium payment back. Though it would not be as expensive if I had DIY the fixes myself. Use of the extended service plan is a royal PIA!
