- ETysonExplorerHi everyone, I work on the Good Sam RV Travel & Savings Guide and I read the posts on the AAA guides, and East and West directories.
The AAA regional guides are published by us, and they contain the same campground information, reprinted by region, that's found in the Travel & Savings Guide.
The AAA partnership began with Woodall's, and continued after Woodall's and Trailer Life, (both already being part of the same company), merged campground directories in 2013. AAA supply these at their discretion to their members.
With regard to the Woodall's East and West versions - we no longer publish those separately after we merged directories. We always look at the most viable publishing options and at this time the national version is the most widely received and best option to print.
Kind Regards,

Good Sam Enterprises - 2gypsies1Explorer IIII've never looked at a AAA Woodall's books. If you have one and also have the BIG book, can you compare a page or two? I'd like to know if that BIG book is truly incorporated in the AAA little books or did they leave a lot of campgrounds out.
Also, if you picked up a AAA recently, what is the publication date? Is it current?
Just wondering..... - Sfla2Explorer100% agree. now this is strange as AAA has 4 or 5 diff Woodalls avail to members for free, who is doing that printing ,sure must not be our friend Marcus, & if so why not avail to open market
- 4X4DodgerExplorer IIThere are so many problems with the Big Red Book one doesnt know where to start.
Splitting it is a VERY GOOD idea it is too big. But the real reason to split it is this: Most of those who live in the East will stay EAST of the Rockies for MOST of their journeys. and the reverse is true for those in the West.
Make the second half a good deal by including a coupon in each volume that will get you the other for 1/2 price.
The more I try to use the Big Red Book the less I like it. The editing is slapdash at best and it is arranged in such a way it makes it difficult to use efficiently.
Also there are RV parks listed in towns that dont appear on the Rand Mc Nalley road atlas. Also there are so many parks missing it is incredible.
This book needs an entire overhaul.
I don't even want to get into the rating system which fails on almost every count
As for CD's this is an old technology and is quickly on it's way out. You will notice most new cars don't have them anymore..nowdays you download or stream everything. - Sfla2Explorer

The East/West directories was recommended all last year. It didn't do any good to comment. - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIThe East/West directories was recommended all last year. It didn't do any good to comment.
- Sfla2Explorernot saying useless just to 'D' big to handle while driving or even sitting still. If u remember Woodalls had a E or W or both , quite sure we would all pay little extra for that benefit
- TinyoneRVExplorerWe always get the directory when it comes out. First thing I do is reinforce the binding with duct tape and it will last thorugh all our travells. i storngly disagree with the comment that it is useless.

I am also a AAA member, went to the local office and got the 2016 woodalls comes in 4 sections. The best part it was FREE
I also pushed for the CD version does not seem to get to people who care.
I assume you realize it isn't really free. It is a benefit included in your AAA member dues. - 3oaksExplorerAnd there you have it. Another fact of life. Damned if you do and damned if you don't. Can never satisfy everyone no matter what you do or don't do. :@
