Good Sam Club (another rip-off)

So I was considering not renewing my Good Sam membership coming this June but I got an offer in e-mail for 3 years for $69. This included a $25 Camping World coupon AND free shipping with no minimum order to Good Sam members!!! I figured for that I would renew for another 3 years until 6/21. So I get my packet in the mail and the coupon for $25 is ONLY good in store. No online shopping! Also the offer to ship free has been changed to $39 minimum!! What about the no minimum?? I call and am told by "Joseph" I am flat wrong there never was a NO MINIMUM offer made to me! I said there was and I had the e-mail to prove it. He was very snarky about it saying I was absolutely wrong! I had to call back so I could find it and ended up with Vanessa a supervisor. She apologised for Joseph and acknowledged the offer had been there. I had found the e-mail and actually found the offer on their web site. She said she was sorry but the offer had changed to $39.00 minimum. I said Since that with the coupon is what made me decide I wanted a refund. She sent me over to CS billing who apparently was issuing a refund.
Well 2 1/2 weeks later NO Refund has been issued and they still have me signed up until 2021! I called back today and they know nothing about me requesting a refund. Now a manager is supposed to call me back within 72 hours, for what? To wait me out so I don't get back my $69?
I'll wait 72 hours and then I'm requesting a charge back on my credit card! I'll never ever do business again with Good Sam! Oh yah, they had the nerve to remind me that road side assistance was due later this month! :) Good luck with that!

  • I just got a response from Stacy at Good Sam. She told me that upper management is looking into it. I bet!

I have used a consumer advocate attorney many years ago and won my case. Please hold on to all your catalogs that state free shipping and your worthless coupons. You can also call and file a complaint with your state attorney general's office consumer fraud division.

Also, one of our local Dallas TV stations handles consumer frauds that are reported to them. This outrageous advertising by Camping World and Good Sam should be reported. This is a terrible way to treat their customers.
  • Also, be aware that not Everything is eligible, for the free shipping, I ordered 2 items and was short of the $39. so I ordered another item that I thought would be nice to have, the shipping was the same as it was for just the 2 items, after a Chat, I found out that the third item didn't qualify for free shipping, no problem, I canceled the whole order, after a little research, I found the first 2 items at WalMart, with free store pickup. :R
  • SO I also sent an Email to Marcus. Within 15 minutes Stacy replied and said a credit had been issued to my credit card. I'm sorry it had to go so far but at least THEY listened! I'll notify when the credit actually shows up. I know it is Marcus' business principals that People and Process are very important. On this he and I were failed miserably! On a positive note, when brought to him (or his team) it was QUICKLY rectified!

  • Wouldn't matter even if the transmission was full. Modern transmissions do not have a rear pump driven off the driveshaft end so a tow at highway speed with the driveshaft in place will most certainly burn your transmission up. 1st rule of towing. I would have taken the tow company to small claims court.

    Doesn’t surprise me.

I spent hours on the side of an Interstate shivering with the DW and dog in a snow storm on Presidents Day weekend a couple years back, thankfully we managed to limp into a pullout, waiting for a GS RS tow truck. When a truck stopped by after 2 hours the driver openly admitted that they weren’t going to take a “deeply discounted fee” when they couldn’t keep up with customers willing to pay the full pop, but were we running out of gas or anything? I replied that we were out of propane and almost out of gasoline (below genny cutoff point) but couldn’t run the chassis engine because we had lost a trans. cooling line and had lost too much fluid. He apologized that he only had 5 gallons and that wouldn’t get us above cutoff point so I said it was better he save it for someone that could use it.

After a few more hours the storm broke and somebody arrived to tow us the 40’ish miles into town. Except the driver was too tired (or lazy) to drop the driveshaft so (unknown to me, he lied) he towed it at highway speed, with the driveshaft in place and the trans critically low on fluid.

It cost me $5k for a rebuilt transmission torn up by the tow, a couple nights in a hotel, a weeks car rental while my trans was rebuilt unnecessarily, and a 600 mile return trip back there a week later to return the rental car and pick up my unit.

But hey, they did say “I do apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced”.

    That’s worth something? Right?
  • Be calm..lthis is a business dispute. GS will make the refund.

  • It still is amazing that this problem could have been resolved with a manager that had good customer relation skills. Managers do have the ability to insure that a customer remains a customer. One bad experience means that you need many good reviews or you continue to lose customers.
