Good Sam Elite/Roadside Assistance: NO CARDS

So here's the story. Bare with me on this one.

My wife and I bought a 2013 Keystone Alpine last August at Camping World. As new RV'ers we were excited about getting the "Elite" Good Sam membership for free as a bonus to our purchase. We also decided that we would get the Roadside Assistance plan with the tire option. We only took the fiver out for one night after purchase to make sure everything was working because our son was only 7 months old at the time. 2014 will be our year to travel so a few months ago I began reviewing things.

Going through my purchase paperwork in early January I realized we had not received any Good Sam membership info including our card. I called Good Sam and spoke with a rep who could not find any record of our membership. He tried searching different ways for about 20 minutes to no avail. I called the Camping World we bought it at and was told that we should already have gotten our membership info at our purchase. I explained to our original salesperson that we had nothing, have not received anything, and Good Sam has no record of us. He said he we check into it. A few days later he called me to say that we had been registered since our purchase but would send me a copy of our membership info via snail mail. That confirmation did arrive within a few days, but interestingly had listed as a membership join date,1/9/14. I was a little aggravated about this because I felt like the dealer had messed up and didn't want to own up to it. Within, a few weeks I received my membership card.

Now, it's March and I think I have waited long enough to deal with the next issue. I have not received any info on the Roadside Assistance plan other than the brochures the dealer gave me. Ohhh, wait, they sure didn't forget to do the sales contract for that plan.

Where's my card or info related to this add-on service Camping World was so happy to sell me? Am I supposed to carry my sales contract with me on trips as proof, or is there a card that I have again not received? Anyone know about this?

Check with the member service number on the back of your card. They usually use the same number for membership and road service! Only takes a phone call to find out what's going on and they may only use one card for elite to cover all services. Just relax and save the energy for spring if it ever get here and camping season!!

Wish that was true for us. Every time I use my GS card at CW, two accounts pull up. My GS membership and someone else's roadside membership account. We have roadside as well, but it's not connected with the membership.

  • Sounds like you lucked out with the free GS membership- instead of expiring in August (a year after you bought the rig), it's good through next January!

    Per RA coverage:
You did get one card- is there a different card for each of these amenities, or could they both be "contained" on the one you already received?
  • GS is really bad at making simple membership cards for unexplainable reasons. I want to renew my inactive membership but I am waiting until they figure out how to make cards right. You would think you could go to any CW and they could sign you up and imprint a permanent card on the spot. This is not high tech stuff.
